Born & Raised is an independent feature film about a young man in a small, seaside town who learns a thing or two about love, luck and life from his well-traveled, outlaw grandfather. Born & Raised is a rough, tough, coming-of-age drama with a lot of heart and a ton of laughs. It deals with family, friends, love, forgiveness, small towns and the want for something more.
Born & Raised will be playing at this year’s BRECKENRIDGE FESTIVAL OF FILM, on Saturday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Visit BreckFilmFest.com.
All of the filmmakers, associated with Born & Raised, have very strong Colorado roots. Director/Editor/Producer Joshua Dragge (Film’99) lived in Colorado for seven years and graduated from CU-Boulder. Writer/Actor/Producer Nick Loritsch (Film’03) also lived in Colorado for seven years, graduated from CU-Boulder and his parents (Ken and Deni Loritsch who make cameos in the film) still live in Castle Rock, Colo., today.
In college, Joshua and Nick were paired together by mutual CU professor/filmmaker Jerry Aronson (The Life And Times Of Allen Ginsberg), now retired, hence their production company name – Jerry-Rigged Films. Three of their film’s producers have Colorado connections – Adam Loritsch (University of Northern Colorado), Austin Eckstein (Colorado State University) and Justin Hamann – who was pitched on the project at the Denver International Airport on his way home to Kansas for Christmas vacation. Their music supervisor Virgil Dickerson, who owns the independent record label Suburban Home Records, is based out of Denver, and the primary band used on their soundtrack, Drag The River, lives in Fort Collins.
