Henderson, Spruce garner honors as Buffs look ahead to 2015

The Colorado football team wrapped up the 2014 season with a 2-10 record, but coach Mike MacIntyre firmly believes his team is heading in the right direction.

“I do feel 100 percent that (the 2014 seniors) have built a foundation and taught these young men how to fight, fight, fight and keep battling,” MacIntyre said. “We’re getting closer and eventually we’ll pop through and … it’ll roll like dominoes.”

Junior wide receiver Nelson Spruce was named the Buffs’ most valuable player at the team’s senior banquet Nov. 29. Spruce finished the 2014 campaign with school records for catches (106) and touchdowns (12). His 1,198 yards receiving is the second most in CU history.

Meanwhile, senior cornerback Greg Henderson was given the Buffalo Heart Award by fans following the season finale against Utah. Henderson was a four-year starter for CU and finished with five interceptions.

“I’m definitely going to miss playing in Folsom and playing with this group of guys,” Henderson told the Daily Camera. “I’m always going to be a Buffalo.”
