Career Counseling

The world of work is constantly changing as are the needs and goals of today’s workforce. CU is committed to helping alumni manage their career transitions. Lea Alvarado and Donna Lynch are the two Alumni Career Counselors and are available by phone or in person for appointments. The first two sessions are free and each additional session, up to six per year, is $30. Call 303-492-6541 to schedule an appointment.

About Lea

Lea Alvarado develops career programs and special events and provides one-on-one career counseling to alumni, locally and across the country. She has more than 15 years of career development experience in corporate, nonprofit and university settings as a career counselor, executive recruiter and staffing manager. Lea has worked with adults in transition in both the aerospace and biotechnology industries and also has created programs and services specifically for alumni. She is a trained coach and has a master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in career development. She enjoys helping people develop strategies that will increase their job search success. She is especially passionate about helping individuals shift their perspective in a way that decreases their anxiety and improves their confidence and sense of hope with regard to their job search or career transition.

About Valentine

Valentine Roche provides career counseling and coaching to CU Boulder alumni.  Valentine’s professional background includes working in various leadership roles that have included teaching, management and leadership training, organizational development and career coaching.  Valentine has an exceptional ability to identify client’s strengths which in turn influences their career decisions.  Additionally, she helps clients create relevant career alternatives, as well as career transition strategies. Valentine’s coaching philosophy is based on the co-active coaching model.  She believes that clients are naturally creative, resourceful and whole. When she works with an individual or group, she addresses the client’s whole life. The agenda comes from the client, and a relationship is developed defining how they want to be coached. The client is involved in creating a powerful relationship that fits their working and learning styles.
