Course Search Help

Here’s a step-by-step guide for using the CU Course search. Each step has an image of the screen as it should appear – images are click-to-enlarge for greater detail.

Step 1 – Go the CUAlum.org website and choose ‘Programs’ then ‘Senior Auditors from the top navigation to reach the Senior Auditors page. 

In the Gold Box on the Right side, click ‘Go here to search for classes’

Step 2 – Course Search ‘splash’ page – this is simply a cover page to the system with some helpful links. Click on the large orange box labelled ‘Start using the Guest Course Search’
Step 3 – Search for Classes input screen – this is the starting point for your searches.

Step 4 – Choose Institution – in this case ‘CU Boulder’ has been selected.
Step 5 – Choose Term – in this case ‘Fall 2011 UC Boulder’ has been selected
Step 6 – Choose Campus – in this case ‘Boulder Main Campus’ has been selected
Step 7 – Select Subject – Click the Green ‘select subject’ button
Step 8 – Select Subject – Click the Green ‘select’ button to choose a subject. Letters across top go to each alphabetical section. In this case, Arts & Sciences Spec Courses has been chosen
Step 9 – Subject Chosen, back at search screen. When you press the green ‘select’ button in Step 8, you will be taken back to the main search screen and your selected course abbreviation will be entered in the field to the right of the green ‘select subject’ button. (see pointer in image – pointing to ‘ARSC’)
Step 10 – Enter the Course Number manually – if you know the exact course number, you can enter it in the field on the right side of the search screen. In this case the field is labelled ‘Arts & Sciences Spec Courses’ – which you chose in previous steps.
Step 10b – Course Number range options – you can search for the course number within a range by choosing one of the options.
Step 10c – Course Career – if you know the course is part of a specific career you can also specify that.
Step 11 – Hit Search but no results – when you click the green ‘Search’ button at the very bottom right you may get this response. Don’t panic, you can try again.
Step 11b – No Course Number option – if you want to remove the Course Number range option, just choose the first blank line in the pull-down selector the same can be done with the Course Career pull-down selector. Hitting the green ‘Search’ button now should yield some courses.
Step 12 – WHEW! You’ve finally gotten to the list of courses. Now you can browse.
Step 12b – Search Results – Course details – by clicking the green arrows to the left of each course name you can expand the course information.
Step 12c – Search Results – Course Status – be sure to check the course status. There is a legend for the symbols at the top of the list. Big green disk = GO TO SCHOOL!
Step 13 – Search Results – Start a New Search – One more time, with feeling! – If you’d like to search for more courses, click the ‘Start A New Search’ button at the top right of the Search Results. (go to Step 3)
