Volunteer opportunities

Your Alumni Association needs you!

Without our remarkable volunteers the Alumni Association would be far more limited in what it can do for students and alums. Volunteering is an investment in the university’s future. You make the best recruiters, advocates and role models. We hope you find fulfillment in giving of your time and expertise for the good of the university. If you’d like to help, please explore the opportunities listed below. Whatever reason prompts you to volunteer, we thank you!

Board of Directors

The Alumni Association is looking for energetic alums to replace board members who will be completing their three-year terms in June 2013. As a member of the Board of Directors, you’ll work in conjunction with staff and other directors to develop and promote the strategic direction of the association and review, monitor and develop policy and programs that help accomplish the association’s goals and objectives. A board member also helps shape the programs of the association to reflect the needs and desires of the university’s alumni that are consistent with the best interests of the association and university. Directors serve three-year terms, returning to Colorado for three meetings each year.

Chapters

There are more than 35 regional chapters of alumni in the U.S. and five international chapters. These groups get together for networking, sporting events, service events and many other activities throughout the year. They also help with CU-Boulder recruiting and scholarship programs. Leaders of these groups help alums reconnect because of their affiliation.

Directors Club

Board members of the Directors Club are volunteers selected from a list of member nominations gathered throughout the fiscal year July 1-June 30. Once selected to serve on the board, volunteers meet monthly at Koenig to plan four annual events for the group. These events include: a football pregame party in September (for the first home game), a full day winter meeting in January, a spring arts event in April. Meeting events include campus speakers, entertainment, food and drink and a summer meeting in June at a resort location in Colorado. For more information about this vibrant and supportive club of alums and friends of CU please go to the homepage and click on “Clubs” and then Directors Club.

Campus Opportunities:

Commencement marshals

Every May and December those graduating get to walk in procession around campus and in front of Old Main Marshals are a vital part of a successful graduation ceremony. Alumni of all ages make wonderful marshals and we want you there. While helping usher graduates in the procession to Folsom Stadium, you can speak with them about life after graduation. A complimentary luncheon following commencement, is provided.
